Substantiation of this Report is minimal, at best; there are no published reports of encounters and/or sightings for Orange County, California on the BFRO website. However, there is a sighting report from April 2001 on the Bigfoot Encounters[1] website, which took place at Irvine Lake, approximately twenty miles (20mi, or 32km) to the north. Another report, from April 2008, is posted on the Oregon Bigfoot website,[2] which took place in San Clemente, again, approximately twenty miles (20mi, or 32km) to the southeast.

Some historical evidence, mainly anecdotal, suggests the existence of EC in the Santa Ana Mountains, which range across much of Orange County, and which are still heavily wooded. The creature, affectionately nicknamed “Santiago Sam,” was first reported and/or sighted in 1924, with sporadic sightings since that time.[3]

The combination of physical, visual, audible and/or olfactory events described in this Report are as follows:

  1. The large, vertical ‘X’ assembly observed by the roadside, overlooking a wooded ravine;
  2. The possible alignment of same with a wide, steel culvert passing beneath the road.

These factors, alone or in combination with past experience(s), may be considered sufficient to suggest the presence of EC [4] in Orange County in the late spring of 2014. I have returned to this area numerous times, and the large, vertical ‘X’ assembly remains in situ, with some possible, additional branch assemblies alongside.[5] Further investigation may provide additional information regarding possible habitation in this area, either permanent or itinerant.

[4] EC, in this context, stands for “Elder Children”, as usual.

[5] Regrettably, I have been unable to further investigate same.
