Substantiation of this Report is minimal at best; I am not familiar with other persons researching this area of southern Wisconsin. My own investigations at Rutland Gate began in the autumn of 2014 and ended in the spring of 2015; I have not returned since then.  There are no published reports for Green, Jefferson, Rock, or Walworth Counties on the BFRO website,[1] although two reports each for adjacent Dane and Waukesha Counties are available.[2] [3] Nonetheless, a cursory review of same suggests considerable activity in this region.

The combination of physical, visual, audible and/or olfactory events described in this Report are:

  1. The eerie, almost unnatural silence in the woods, experienced throughout;
  2. The sounds of movement in the brush, ditto;
  3. The sound of loud, heavy thrashing in the brush;
  4. The shower of acorns which immediately followed;
  5. The horrid, rank disgusting odour noticed on the path, experienced throughout;
  6. The rapid dissipation of same, ditto;
  7. The strong impression of being followed by more than one…something;
  8. The observation of a large, iridescent blue figure in the ravine;
  9. The observation of a dark, brown-coloured figure which jumped up and then ducked back down;
  10. The continued sounds of movement in the brush;
  11. The sound of something pacing back and forth, quite slowly, in the woods;
  12. The strange chuffing or coughing sound heard in the woods;
  13. The two loud, rapid stomps heard to the west, which were repeated several times;
  14. The strange, albeit thrilling communication with same, via my own rock-clacking efforts;
  15. The pattern of two, then three loud, rapid stomps;
  16. The single rock-clacking sound, heard in the woods;
  17. The sound of loud, snapping branches, heard in the woods;
  18. The numerous rocks thrown from the woods and landing on the path between us;
  19. The glimpse of the iridescent blue figure along the path in the ravine;
  20. The malfunctioning camera.

These behaviours, and the history of my own experiences, may be considered sufficient to suggest the presence of EC [4] at Rutland Gate, in the autumn of 2014.

An unusual number of subjective events also occurred. While these cannot be considered conclusive evidence, neither should they be discounted. Although it is reasonable to review the impact of non-objective stimuli in this Report, such effects, while personally quite vivid and at times overwhelming, are nonetheless nearly impossible to substantiate with any measure of certainty.

[4] EC, in this context, stands for “Elder Children”, as usual.
