Substantiation of this Report, and the sightings/behaviours described therein, may be provided, in part, by various reports published on the BFRO website,[1] and others. A cursory view of sightings in Coshocton County suggests considerable activity in this area, both historic[2] [3]and contemporary.[4]

The combination of physical, visual, audible and/or olfactory events described in this Report are as follows:

  1. The possible footprint found at the fork in the vehicle-access road;
  2. The horizontal, suspended branch observed on the left-hand fork in the road;
  3. The strong, unpleasant odour noticed when we entered the woods;
  4. The sound of large, heavy footfalls, in time with my own, deep in the brush;
  5. The visual sighting of a large, dark figure in the brush;
  6. The absolute feeling of terrific fear while observing the large, dark figure;
  7. The sound of large, heavy footfalls, in time with my own, as we left the area;
  8. The visual sighting of something on two legs, stepping into the brush;
  9. The rocks thrown at the car in quick, rapid succession;
  10. The possible visual sighting of a large, dark hand disappearing into the brush;
  11. The small, outlined tracks observed in the muddy bank;
  12. The small, twisted-branch assemblies observed on Township Road 70;
  13. The horizontal, suspended branch observed at the same location;
  14. The sound of large, heavy footfalls, in time with my own, as I explored the other side of the road;
  15. The twisted/snapped branch at Butterfly Pond;
  16. The second twisted/snapped branch at Butterfly Pond.

In conclusion, therefore, it is reasonable to suggest the presence of EC at Woodbury Wildlife Area, at least in the spring of 2007, based upon the evidence presented here. Recent developments in the area, and the number of visitors thereto, may have affected same; I did not return to Bigfoot Pond until May, 2010, and then again to the area in February 2014. Further investigation may provide additional information regarding possible habitation in this area, either permanent or itinerant.

A number of subjective events also occurred at Woodbury Wildlife Area; while these cannot be considered conclusive evidence of EC, they cannot be discounted in their entirety. Nonetheless, they may be considered as peripheral, and therefore possibly pertinent, to the physical, visual, audible and olfactory events outlined above.
